Vision and Mission:

BUnited Peer Support Centre is an on-campus mental health resource and community space where students can gather to support one another in a safe and confidential environment.

The centre serves as an additional mental health resource and safer space for B.U. students, complementing the stepped care services offered by Student Services. Peer Supporters provide non-clinical psychosocial one-on-one support, host community-building events, and operate on-campus safety tents at events as part of a harm reduction approach to substance use.

BUnited focuses on meeting students where they are, offering support tailored to each individual’s needs. Whether students are seeking personal support or simply a welcoming space to socialize, BUnited is here for them.

Where to find us:

We’re located in the Student Centre; BUnited has its own external entrance, situated to the left of the Mailroom and Print Shop.

What we do:

Community-Building Events: We host a wide range of on-site activities to foster connection and engagement, including:

  • Creative workshops: mosaic art, journal/agenda design, Bob Ross-style painting, candle making
  • Relaxation & wellness: spa days, wellness days, knitting circles
  • Entertainment: movie nights, gaming and board games, hockey nights
  • Skill-building & support: study sessions, fermentation workshops

Our programming was designed to be inclusive, accessible, and responsive to student interests.

Outreach: Peer Supporters conduct regular outreach to connect with the broader student population:

  • Twice-weekly outreach tables around lunch time
  • Promote services, answer questions, and gather student feedback
  • Strengthened visibility and accessibility of Peer Support Centre

Safety Tents: Harm reduction-focused tents are present at key campus events, including: SRC events, alumni gatherings, and holidays (e.g., Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day)

  • Staffed by 2–3 trained Peer Supporters per tent
  • Offer free safe consumption kits, condoms, water, and a safer space to rest
  • Peer Supporters carry and are trained to administer Naloxone
