New Students: First-Semester Courses

If you are starting your first semester at Bishop’s in Fall 2026, your academic department will pre‑register you in core courses required for your program. The number of pre‑registered courses varies by program – some programs pre‑register several courses, while others may pre‑register few or none.

The recommended course lists linked below are prepared by your program Chairperson and are designed to help you build a strong academic foundation. Within each list, courses are clearly identified as either:

  • Pre‑registered: already added to your schedule by your department
  • Student‑selected: courses you choose and register for yourself

Students are responsible for registering themselves in additional courses as needed to reach their desired course load. A standard full‑time course load is 15 credits per semester.

  • First Semester Courses for Students Entering from CEGEP (Coming soon)
  • First-Semester Courses for Students Entering from High School, College (Outside Quebec), as Mature Students, or as University Transfers (Coming Soon)

Self-Service Section Search

The Self‑Service Section Search provides a central location to view information about all courses taught at Bishop’s University, including current and past offerings. Once the course timetable is released, this tool also displays up‑to‑date scheduling information.

You can search by:

  • Course code (e.g. ENG), or
  • Keywords (e.g. Children’s Literature)
