International High School Students

You are considered an international high school student for admission purposes if you:

are currently completing secondary school at a country outside of Canada or the USA; or you
completed completed secondary school at a country outside of Canada or the USA within the last two years and you have not studied elsewhere since completing your secondary school studies

Admission Requirements: General

The following requirements should be used as a guideline to be considered competitive for admissions consideration. Each admission cycle, Bishop’s University receives more applications than spaces available. Meeting the minimum posted requirements does not guarantee admission. Applicants who do not meet the posted requirements may be considered on an individual basis. In those cases, the Admissions Office may request additional information in addition to that indicated below.

Normally have completed 12 years of formal schooling and received a secondary school credential that would permit you access to university in that country. If you are studying at or have graduated from secondary school in a country where secondary school finishes after only 11 years of formal schooling your application will be evaluated on an individual basis.
Minimum average required varies depending upon curriculum followed; transcripts are reviewed on an individual basis. Contact the Admissions Office (admissions@ubishops.ca) for detailed information on your particular situation.

NATURAL SCIENCES & MATHEMATICS

Course Requirements for B.Sc. Science programs: University-entrance Mathematics, two university-entrance Sciences (usually Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics)
Course Requirements for B.A. Science programs: University-entrance Mathematics

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

Course Requirements: None specified

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION – math or science as a teachable

Course Requirements: University-entrance Mathematics, two university-entrance Sciences (usually Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)

Required Supporting Documents: All Applicants

Proof of English proficiency. All applicants must submit proof of English proficiency. Consult the English Language Proficiency Requirements page to determine what, if any, supplementary documents you must provide. If your level of English proficiency does not currently meet our minimum requirements, please consider one of the English Language Pathway Programs with which we are a partner.
Copy of high school transcript, including mid-term course grades if available
Copy of personal identification document(s). Consult the Personal Identification Documents page to determine what document(s) you must provide.

Bishop’s University takes a holistic approach to the admissions process. All relevant additional documentation submitted by the applicant will be considered. At its discretion, the Admissions Office may formally request additional supporting documentation (personal statement, letter of intent, letter of recommendation, essay, CV, etc..) to aid in the evaluation of an application.

How to Submit Documents

All supporting documentation can be uploaded via our online system at the time of application or can be submitted via your myBU Applicant Portal via the “Submit Missing Documents” option. They can also be sent to us via email to admissions@ubishops.ca.

Admission Timeline

Once the evaluation period has begun for an admissions cycle, files are assessed on a rolling basis. What this means is that as soon as all required documents are received, our office will complete an initial evaluation within 10 business days. (Exception: Master’s Programs, Applications for our Music programs, which need to be evaluated based on their audition as well, and competitive admissions programs).
