JUMPstart your career with the JUMP Mentorship Program

JUMP is a post‐degree mentoring program for recent Bishop’s graduates who are – or who are on the cusp of – entering the professional world and starting their careers. It is currently offered in Toronto, Halifax, Montreal, and Ottawa.

JUMP serves as a platform to learn and share experiences. The goal of the program is to create a medium for protégés to gain insight from their mentors while developing strategies to maximize their potential. Overall, JUMP provides a space for mentors and protégés alike to engage in meaningful dialogue and learning experiences.

Our Mission

The goal of the JUMP Mentorship Program is to help with the “student to working life” transition by providing a community of support, offering perspective and inspiration for professional development.

Our Vision

To encourage, energize, and open eyes.

Our Program

There are two core elements to the JUMP Mentorship Program:

  • The Mentoring Relationship
  • The Speaker & Networking Series

The first core element is the mentoring relationship in which Bishop’s graduates from any discipline are matched with seasoned business and professional leaders who operate as sounding boards and guides to graduates in the early stages of their careers. The second core element is the speaker and networking series.

Frequently Asked Questions

Any recent Bishop’s alumni who have graduated within the last 1-10 years can apply to become a mentee.

  • To actively engage in a learning relationship by bringing issues and experiences to the table for exploration, discussion, learning, and feedback.
  • Attend local networking and social events.
  • Communicate with your mentor regularly.
  • Provide feedback on your experience.

The mentors/mentees will be matched based on professional goals, interests and preferences.

Mentorship is a relationship where both mentor and mentee get to know each other. Your mentor will act as a sounding board, helping you set and identify realistic goals, and supporting behaviors that contribute to your success. This personalized guidance ensures you receive the support needed to achieve your goals.

Sure! Why not bring a friend to an upcoming networking event in a city near you! Email the JUMP Program team to learn more.

Bishop’s alumni and friends, ideally with 5-10 years of experience in their field of expertise, who have the desire to help others grow and develop can become mentors.

  • Provide experienced guidance, breadth, and context on organizational and professional topics. A mentor plays a critical role in challenging, supporting, and facilitating a learning process – focused on the learning goals of the mentee.
  • Attend local networking and social events.
  • Communicate with your mentee regularly.
  • Provide feedback on your experience.

The JUMP Chapter Leads will provide support to both the mentor and the mentee throughout the relationship. As a mentor, you will also be part of a network of fellow alumni mentors, providing additional support and opportunities for collaboration.
