How to Apply

Applying to Bishop’s University is quick and straightforward:

  1. Complete the online application form through our secure application portal;
  2. Pay the $75 CAD application fee (non-refundable);
  3. Upload your documents — transcripts, language scores (if required), and other materials; 
  4. Receive your myBU Applicant Portal login to track your application;
  5. Most applicants receive an initial admission decision within 10 business days after submitting all documents.

Admission Requirements

Students completing or holding a Diplôme d’études collégiales (DEC) can apply directly to Bishop’s. 

  • Minimum R-score of 24 for most programs.
  • Technical DEC-BAC pathways may offer advanced standing credits.
  • Students with a completed DEC typically complete their Bishop’s degree in three years (90 credits).
  • High school students who have completed grade 12 are eligible for consideration.

Ontario & Other Canadian Provinces

Applicants must hold a recognized provincial high school diploma with: 

  • Five Grade 12 courses (English, three approved, one option).
  • Estimated Minimum Admission Average: ~80%.
  • Program prerequisites (e.g., math for Business & Science) .

  • Applicants normally need 12 years of schooling and a secondary credential granting university access; minimum averages vary by curriculum and are assessed individually. 
  • English-language proficiency scores (IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, etc.) if applicable.

Program Length

Degree length at Bishop’s depends on your academic background: 

  • Quebec CEGEP graduates: Complete most degrees in three years (90 credits);
  • Ontario, other Canadian provinces & international students: Typically four years (120 credits).

With over 100 programs across five faculties, students can combine majors, add minors, and customize their academic journey.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

  • Entrance Scholarships: Automatically awarded based on your academic performance when you apply to the University. Application deadline: March 1. 
  • Entrance Bursaries & Special Awards: Available for students with financial need, community involvement, or notable achievements. Application deadline: March 1. 
  • In-Course Scholarships: Automatically considered after your first year for strong academic results. Students are notified by July 15. 
  • In-Course Bursaries & Special Awards: Provides support for students with financial need, community involvement, or notable achievements. Application deadline: May 1.

Application Fee & Payment

  • Application fee: $75 CAD.
  • Paid online via credit card at the time of submission.
  • Non-refundable.
  • No additional processing fees.

After You Apply

Here’s what happens next:

  1. You’ll receive an email confirmation with your credentials to your myBU Applicant Portal;
  2. Once your file is complete, the Admissions Office reviews your application;
  3. Most applicants receive an admission decision within 10 business days;
  4. If admitted, your offer will be available through email and your myBU student portal will be updated.
  5. Next steps include:
    • Accepting your offer
    • Paying any required deposits
    • Registering for courses
    • Applying for residence
    • Preparing for orientation

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a bachelor’s degree? 
3 years for CEGEP students; 4 years for most others. Some programs (i.e. Education) may be longer.  

When are the deadlines? 
May 1 (Canadian/U.S.) and March 1 (international) for Fall entry.
