You may have heard that case competitions allow students to solve real-world business problems while developing key competencies such as creativity, strategic thinking, communication, teamwork, decision-making, and time management.

Or maybe you heard that students travel around the world to compete against other universities and represent the Williams School of Business.

Perhaps you are completely unfamiliar with case competitions and are now intrigued. This page explains the incredible opportunities that competing brings and how you can get involved.

Start Here…

It all begins with registering for the Case Competition class (BMG 330), which is offered each fall term.   Throughout the semester, your professor and case competition coach teach you how to breakdown business problems, analyse them and develop the presentation skills to showcase your findings to a panel of judges that are industry professionals.

You will be part of a team of 3 or 4 students that “crack” the case as a team, producing a slide deck and pitching your story as if you were paid consultants, asked to solve a problem.   Along with taking this class, you will be coached by a faculty member from your area of study, who will work hard to improve your analytical skills, your presentation style and your effectiveness as a team.

Expect to dedicate about 50 to 75 hours over a period of 4-5 months outside of your regular schoolwork, to become competition ready.   Also expect to be amazed by your personal development, and the team bonding you will experience with your teammates.

Do this…
