SSHRC-CRSH Grant Supports Dr. Joanne Pattison-Meek’s Study on High School Students as Mentor-Coaches

Dr. Joanne Pattison-Meek has received funding from SSHRC-CRSH-Insight Development Grant for her project titled “High school students as mentor-coaches in supporting the professional learning of pre-service teachers”.

Dr. Pattison-Meek’s research re-imagines mentorship in initial teacher education by positioning high school students as mentor-coaches in the teaching practicum. In collaboration with the Western Québec School Board, her work explores innovative, student-centred approaches to support the professional learning of pre-service teachers. By challenging traditional mentorship models and emphasizing reciprocal learning relationships, this research contributes to ongoing conversations about educational innovation and teacher development.
