The Writing Centre / English Writing Proficiency

The Writing Centre (Library Learning Commons 226, 227, 228) is staffed by a group of enthusiastic and experienced writing consultants whose goal is to help students of all levels across all disciplines perfect their writing styles.

We offer both online and in-person appointments to students who would like help with written assignments or letters of intent (the Consultation Service) and workshops to help students improve their written work. In addition, we conduct the EWP exam, which is a graduation requirement for those students who entered Bishop’s before September 2020. We also offer the course EWP 115, which helps students address their academic writing skills.

This year, we are happy to continue our new project: Write for Success. This evaluation is targeted at incoming students who would like to know how their writing compares with what is expected on university-level writing assignments.

All Writing Centre Services are offered free of charge.
