Fees for International students who started in previous academic years

International students admitted in previous academic years are subject to cohort-based tuition rates, where tuition increases are limited annually, provided the student maintains continuous enrolment and does not change their degree program.

Compulsory fees, including student services and administrative charges, are subject to annual increases like those applied to all students.

Student Statement Publication Schedule

Tuition statements are published before each semester begins and are available in Self-Service, in the Finances tab. Once published, statements are updated every Friday to reflect any changes to registration or of payments received.

  • Fall semester: First statements are published starting the second week of August
  • Winter semester: First statements are published starting the second week of December
  • Spring semester: First statements are published starting the second week of May

Tuition Category

Tuition categories are determined based on the official documents submitted by students. It is each student’s responsibility to ensure that they have provided the required documents to enable the University to assess their residency or citizenship status accurately.

If you are being billed international fees but are a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, this means you have not submitted acceptable proof of status, such as a Canadian birth certificate or citizenship document.

If you are being billed out-of-province tuition fees but are a Quebec resident, this means you have not provided the required documentation to confirm your Quebec residency.

These issues will not be corrected automatically. You must provide a copy of these legal documents using the secure Submit Missing Documents form, found on the Registrar’s Office myBU page.

Tuition fees can only be adjusted once proper documentation has been received and verified. Delays in submitting documents may result in higher fees that cannot be retroactively corrected.
