2025-26 Tailgating Procedures

Bishop’s University Tailgating Procedures  

All University policies and procedures, along with local, provincial, and federal law, remain in effect and are subject to enforcement while tailgating occurs. This includes but is not limited to the use of illicit drugs, smoking, the distribution and sale of alcohol, and underage consumption of alcohol. 

The University may establish additional rules, restrictions, or regulations in unique or extraordinary circumstances.   

Guidelines: 

  1. All tailgating activities will commence 3 hours prior to every game and end at the official start or kick-off.  
  1. Tailgating will not be permitted once the game has started, during the game, at halftime or after the game. An exception is made on Homecoming Weekend when tailgating may continue until the start of the 3rd quarter. 
  1. Tailgating must be contained to the designated area indicated by the marshals or Campus Security. 
  1. Participants are required to keep the area clean by using waste and recycling receptacles which are provided in the parking lots. 
  1. Attendees are expected to respect and adhere to tailgating guidelines, University staff, and other applicable University policies and procedures.  
  1. If activities become unsafe or unmanageable, Campus Security – in consultation with the event organizers, the AVP Alumni Relations & Philanthropy, and the VPSA or their designates, may choose to end the tailgating early.  

Prohibited items and activity 

  1. No major sound systems or devices that disrupt the overall enjoyment for others.  
  1. No Recreational Vehicles (RVs) or cube vans. 
  1. No promotional vehicles unless previously approved by the AVP Alumni Relations & Philanthropy.
  1. No platforms, stages, or structures are permitted, unless approved in advance by Campus Security. Tents or weather coverings are permitted. 

Alcohol Guidelines 

  1. Wine must be emptied into cups for consumption.  
  1. Beer kegs, party balls, multi-quart containers of any type of alcohol, drinking paraphernalia (e.g., funnels, beer bongs, ice luges, shotskis, etc.) are prohibited during tailgating.  
  1. Attendees are expected to consume responsibly and to know their limits.
