A CALQ–FRQ Partnership for New Research Practices

Agency:

Application Deadline: June 4, 2026

Grant Amount: Maximum of $40,000 per duo

The Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) are pleased to launch the call for proposals Arts-Sciences: Crossed Approaches. As part of a three-year partnership agreement, this call stems from needs expressed during the large-scale consultation on funding arts-science projects in all their diversity.

Managed by the FRQ’s Directorate for Major Societal Challenges, this call aims to provide space and time dedicated to fostering encounters, mutual understanding between artistic and scientific practices, and experimentation with new forms of collaboration—prior to the development of more formal arts-science projects.

Specifically, the call is based on forming duos composed of one artist and one scientist, and submitting a proposal built on the following requirements:

  • Original proposal;
  • Development of new ideas, approaches, and forms of collaboration;
  • Exploration of intersections between practices;
  • Co-construction of knowledge emphasizing intersectorality;
  • Equal involvement of both members of the duo.
