Welcome to a new way of learning French—where language isn’t just a skill, it’s a key to individual freedom.

Our program is designed to fit your lifestyle and existing program at B.U., to spark your curiosity, and to build your confidence from day one. With French, you’re not just learning words—you’re gaining the freedom to explore the world, gain new experiences, and connect across borders.

Tuition fees for French as a Second Language classes are lower than for other subjects: for 2025-2026 the cost is only $100.89 per credit for ALL undergraduate students, including international students.

Do you have no knowledge of French at all?

Register for the section of FRE100 (French 1) that fits best in your Fall 2025 Schedule.

If you have some French knowledge:

The test takes less than an hour.

Your recommended French courses will be posted on the French Placement Test Moodle page, the following business day, by 10:00 a.m.

You will be automatically registered in the course that corresponds to your level.

As you get started, consider this:

Many students go on to add a French minor or major to their degree. With our immersive classes and supportive community, it’s a natural (and fun!) next step. You’ll also have access to exciting social and cultural activities through our French Hub throughout the year.
