The Mitre is an annual, student-run publication that accepts all forms of written and visual creative expression from the Bishop’s and Lennoxville communities. The 132nd edition will be published in the spring of 2025.

About Bark & Bite (132nd edition)

We accept literary pieces (short stories, poetry, screenplays, stage plays, songs, etc.) and visual arts (paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, etc.). We also accept submissions in French. Please feel free to make this theme your own – we love to see creative interpretations! Here are some ideas for you to consider as you create:

  • Explore what the words “bark”and “bite” mean. Follow the path of any one of these meanings or discover how they intersect.
  • What tensions exist within the metaphor of bark vs. bite? What can nature tell us about the human condition?
  • Make an exploration into the power of words, particularly if you are contributing a written piece. What does your “bark” say about your “bite”?

Submissions due by December 31st.
