English writing proficiency

The Writing Centre is conveniently located in rooms 226, 227, and 228 of the Library Learning Commons. It is staffed by a group of enthusiastic and experienced writing tutors whose goal is to help students of all levels across all disciplines perfect their writing styles.

We offer free appointments for students who would like help with written assignments (the Consultation Service), and free Workshops to help students improve their written work. We also conduct the EWP exam, which evaluates the level of a student’s writing, and offer the course EWP099, which helps students address their writing in small tutorials.

Help with Assignments

The Writing Centre offers free 30-minute consultations to help students with any written assignments and to review their EWP Exam.

To all Bishop’s students:

Where: The Writing Centre is located in the Library Learning Commons.

How:  Use the online booking system. Click the ‘Book it!’ button below. Bring a printed, double-spaced copy of your assignment to the appointment.

When:  Appointments are available from Mondays to Fridays.

What:  Get help with planning, organizing, outlining, sentence structure, grammar, referencing and citations.

Why:  Improve your writing skills, learn helpful writing strategies, cite and reference correctly, and practice for the EWP Exam.
