Dr. Osire Glacier in the Media Following the Publication of her Latest Book

Dr. Osire Glacier of the Departments of History, Religion, and Politics and International Studies has been busy conducting a number of media interviews and interventions on the heels of the launch of her latest book, Femmes, Islam et Occident (Pleine Lune 2018). In February 2018, she took part in an in-depth interview with Fadi Harouny, Director and host of Radio-Canada International’s Arabic section. She was also interviewed by Maryse Jobin, Director and host of Radio-Canada International’s Montreal section in April 2018, and by Arnaud Decroix, host of Ici Radio-Canada Première’s Les samedis du monde. Finally, she participated in a round table, alongside Asma Lamrabet and Abla Farhoud, organized by Radio-Canada and hosted by Françoise Guénette at Quebec City’s Salon international du livre. In all of these interviews and public discussions, Dr. Glacier invites audiences to reflect critically on their attitudes and perceptions of Westerners towards women and Islam, and highlights the common origins of feminism and nationalism in Islam. These are, in fact, the themes that Dr. Glacier explores through her prolific research career and through her many knowledge mobilization activities. Individuals who wish to learn more about Dr. Glacier’s research are invited to consult her blog, etudesmarocaines.com.
