Meet Felix Migneault – Top 10 Student in the Perimeter Institute START Satellite Program at Bishop’s University

Felix Migneault was incredibly excited upon being accepted into the PSI START Satellite Program. For him, the opportunity to learn alongside bright, motivated peers and to engage in meaningful idea exchange was both inspiring and motivating. He viewed this astonishing experience as a big step toward deepening his understanding of physics and preparing for graduate-level studies.

His journey into physics and astronomy was sparked by a deep curiosity about the world around him. Initially inspired by popular science literature, he quickly became captivated by the elegance of the cosmos and how logical approach can be use to solve its mysteries.

Felix believes that the importance of physics extends far beyond academia. In his view, a society without physics research is one that limits its potential for technological progress. The applications of physics, from medical innovations to sustainable food and housing solutions, demonstrate its central role in addressing both fundamental and practical human needs. To him, physics is not just a profession—it is a powerful lens through which to view and understand the world.

During the two-week PSI START program, he hopes to engage with fellow students from diverse backgrounds and explore a broad range of physics subfields. He is particularly eager to delve into advanced mathematical formalisms, such as Path Integrals, as part of his ongoing effort to get closer to the frontier of scientific research.

Given unlimited resources, Felix would dedicate his efforts to addressing some of the most profound questions in theoretical physics—specifically, the unification of quantum physics and gravity. He is particularly drawn to exploring this area through geometric and phenomenological approaches, believing that unlocking the underlying physics of this challenge could fundamentally transform our understanding of the universe.
