Congratulations to our FRQ Recipients!

Victoria Benny, recipient of the FRQSC Future Master’s Student award is starting this 2024 Fall semester and has chosen the Psy. D. & Ph.D. program in Neuropsychology at UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal). She will be studying under the supervision of Dr. Jean-François Gagnon on neurodegenerative diseases and their preclinical states, focusing on sleep disorders and cognition in normal and pathological aging.

Patrick Horlaville is a master’s student at Bishop’s University, who received not only the FRQNT award but also the NSERC award! He is under the supervision of Dr. John Ruan and is developing a novel method to identify galaxies that are potentially hosting supermassive black hole pairs. By applying new theoretical findings, he aims to predict the presence of these systems using galaxy shape and star motion data. Their research holds the potential to uncover a new population of galaxies housing black hole pairs, shedding light on their evolution and fate.

Numa Karolinski

Numa Karolinski received the FRQNT award to pursue his doctorate studies at McGill University. He will be doing research on the hidden realms of gas giants like Jupiter, reshaping our understanding of planetary dynamics and offering fresh insights into the mysteries of the cosmos.
