Mandate

At its November 7, 2025 meeting, the Board of Governors constituted a Special Advisory Committee on Athletics Operations Sustainability.

The Committee has been mandated to examine the unique financial sustainability challenges faced by Bishop’s Athletics given the resources and size of our University, but, importantly, they will also be focusing on the quality of the student-athlete experience and the competitive environment within which our teams play. Ultimately, their mandate will be about ensuring vitality and foreseeability for what is and remains an important part of Bishop’s identity and culture.

As part of this process, the Committee welcomes recommendations and insight from our community. If you wish to make recommendations to support long-term sustainability of Bishop’s Athletics, we invite you to write to athleticsustainability@ubishops.ca.

The Committee is expected to submit its report in time for consideration at the June 2026 meeting of the Board of Governors.

Composition

The Special Advisory Committee’s seven members are former student-athletes, most of whom are also Bishop’s alumni, who have been selected because of the diverse and complementary expertise they will provide in making actionable recommendations to the Board.
