Bishop’s University receives a $5 million gift for student scholarships

Scholarships to be named after retiring Principal Michael Goldbloom

Some donors, who have asked not to be named, have donated $5 million to Bishop’s University for student scholarships.

The scholarships, which the donors have asked to be called the “Michael Goldbloom Excellence Scholarships”, will provide $10,000 a year to first-year students of high academic achievement and character.

The $5 million gift will double an existing scholarship fund and will allow at least ten students per year to benefit from the scholarship throughout their undergraduate studies at Bishop’s.

“This is an extraordinary gift,” said Chancellor Daniel Fournier. “It is a fitting recognition of Michael’s commitment to academic excellence and his distinguished service to Bishop’s over fifteen years.”

“I have had the privilege of working with Michael over the last decade and witnessing the exceptional progress the University has made during his tenure,” said Robert Hall, Chair of Bishop’s Board of Governors.
