Why Study Hispanic Studies at Bishop’s?

The Hispanic Studies Major is taught entirely in Spanish, covering language, civilization, culture, linguistics, and literature. Students are encouraged to spend a semester abroad in a Spanish-speaking country, such as Spain, Argentina, or Mexico, to enhance their language skills and cultural immersion. With alternating courses on Spain and Spanish America, the program offers a well-rounded exploration of Hispanic cultures. Many students find the program transformative, gaining not only fluency in a language but also a new perspective on life and values through a deeper understanding of the Hispanic world.
