IMPORTANT! Read the instructions before booking your consultation.
Writing consultations are given either online or in person using your Bishop’s University Microsoft Teams account. Each student is allowed two appointments per week. Appointments are available from Mondays to Fridays and can be booked up to two weeks in advance.
You can access Teams from myBU (log in to myBU, click on Office 365, click on Apps, open Teams).
The appointments are given in 45-minute blocks. To allow for some buffer time between appointments, expect to spend 40 minutes with your writing consultant. Be ready to explain the requirements of your assignment to them.
Your writing consultant may not be able to review your text completely. However, they will be able to give you some guidance as to how to edit the rest of it on your own.
Questions? Email the Academic Success Centre manager at lflick@ubishops.ca.
Online Instructions:
Make an appointment on our booking site using your full name (as it appears on B.U. documents) and your Bishop’s email address.
Conduct a spelling and grammar check on your text before your appointment to save time.
You will NOT receive a meeting link in advance.
Your writing consultant will video call you on your Bishop’s Teams account.
Ensure that you are logged in to your Bishop’s Teams account to receive the video call.
Have your Word document ready to upload to Teams.
If you do not respond to the call, you can video call your writing consultant back as long as there are at least 15 minutes left in your appointment. If you experience technical difficulties, your writing consultant will determine the best solution to getting your paper reviewed.
