Already signed up with SAAS:

If you have already registered with SAAS and have informed us of your final exam schedule, the SAAS Office has sent an email to your professor indicating your time-based accommodations for finals.

For exams with more than 48 hours to complete the assessment, time-based accommodations do not apply unless otherwise discussed with your SAAS coordinator.

Not yet signed up with SAAS:

Please go to the SAAS Online Registration Form form to apply.

After you have registered, you will need to contact SAAS to make an appointment with a Coordinator. A SAAS Coordinator will assess your case and discuss the steps required to implement your accommodations for finals. Please allow 3 business days prior to the date of your exam to register with SAAS and allow us time to process your registration. How are accommodations applied to final exams online?

How are accommodations applied to final exams online?

Once you complete the online registration form, we will review your information and notify your professor of your accommodations by email, indicating your time-based accommodations, prior to the date of your exam.

For any support regarding adaptive software, please see FAQ “Will I have access adaptive software (reader, text to speech) during online exams?”.

During final exams in an online framework, accommodations may be applied in the following ways:

  • Your professors opt not to hold a final exam, and instead re-weight existing assessments from throughout the term, or have given a final assignment. This type of strategy requires no exam-related accommodation.
  • Your professors opt to hold a time-bound, online exam, using one of the authorized platforms (most often Moodle). In this case, you are required to be registered with SAAS in order for you to access your accommodations. Your time-based accommodations will then be communicated to the professor, who will make the appropriate adjustments.
  • Your professors opt to assign an exam of 48 hours or more. While time-based accommodations do not apply to exams that are 48 hours or more in duration, you may still require other accommodations, which will be coordinated by SAAS Office on a case-by-case basis.

* Please note that the same consideration will apply to mid-term exams. However, we anticipate there to be greater variability in exam format.

I have stop time as an accommodation. Will I have access to this accommodation during online assessments?

I have stop time as an accommodation. Will I have access to this accommodation during online assessments?

Yes. Please sign up for your accommodation(s) using SAAS Online Registration Form and indicate stop time as your accommodation. (Stop time is calculated at 10 minutes per hour of assessment. Students who are allowed stop time during exams are to contact the exam coordinator to make arrangements.)

Please be reminded that the intention of the stop accommodation is to provide students with the possibility to take short breaks during their exam, that does not count towards the exam writing time. The intention of these breaks is that the student uses this time in order to address the barriers they experience.
