Road work planned on the Bishop’s bridge beginning on May 7

The Ministère des Transports, de la Mobilité durable et de l’Électrification des transports has informed the University that the Bishop’s bridge will undergo road work beginning May 7th, 2018.

Lane closures are required to conduct repairs to both the road surface and bridge structure and will continue until at least July 2018.

Traffic circulation will be affected in the following manner:

  • Restriction to one lane, for two weeks, as of May 7th 2018 (circulation in alternance);
  • Complete closure of the bridge for six weeks, beginning May 21st 2018;
  • Reopening of one lane beginning July 2nd 2018 (circulation in alternance).

Official detours have been planned:

Cars, public buses, school buses and adapted transport: St. Francis Street – Bowen South – Route 216 (Galt Street) – Route 143 (Wellington S.) – Route 108 (College Street)

Trucks: Route 108 – Autoroute 410 – Autoroute 10 – Autoroute 610 – Route 112 – Route 253 – Route 108. Some small truck circulation will be permitted on St. Francis Street.

Pedestrians: The bridge will remain open to pedestrians, but access will be restricted to one sidewalk only.

Please consult Québec 511 often for updates and to help plan your itinerary. For the security of pedestrians and workers, respect for any detour signage is essential.

Communications will follow in the coming weeks to highlight and minimize the impact the closures will have on any scheduled University operations or events.

Thank you for your collaboration.
