Melissa Poirier confirmed as Indigenous Student Support and Community Liaison on permanent basis

Bishop’s University is pleased to announce that Ms. Melissa Poirier has been confirmed on a permanent basis in her role as Indigenous Student Support and Community Liaison.

“Ms. Poirier had been performing her duties on a contractual basis since she took up the role at Bishop’s in 2017,” explains Dr. Stine Linden-Andersen, Dean of Student Affairs at Bishop’s University. “Making her position permanent demonstrates Bishop’s University’s commitment to be a welcoming and inclusive community, in particular for our students of First Nations, Métis and Inuit origin.”

“I am very proud of the trusting relationships and friendships I have developed with Bishop’s University’s Indigenous students over the past few years, which have been very rewarding personally,” Ms. Poirier declared. “Now that I have been confirmed in my role as Indigenous Student Support and Community Liaison on a permanent basis, I look forward to deepening those relationships and playing my role by welcoming new students to Bishop’s and helping them share their unique perspective with our entire community.”
