I just finished my first semester at Bishop’s and have had a great experience thus far.

I considered coming to Bishop’s because I was recruited by the men’s Varsity Basketball coach to come and suit up for the Gaiters squad. I ended up choosing Bishop’s University because I wanted to study in English and because I liked the academic program, layout of the campus, the on campus residence community, and overall vibe.

Balancing academics with athletics is challenging as I mix at least two hours per day of athletic and team training with approximately fifteen hours of classes per week, plus another five to ten hours of classwork, and of course, time needed to prepare and/or travel for games. This doesn’t leave a whole lot of time to get involved in much else but I try and create a fun and stress free environment around me by being a good listener when others need to talk or relieve some stress. I also help my fellow classmates academically when they don’t understand a concept or business case study we are working on in class. However, some of my favourite campus moments are supporting my fellow Gaiters athletes by watching their games. Singing the school song, Raise a Toast, bonding with the fans in the stands, and cheering on the Gaiters is always a good time whether we are winning or not.  Our community is built on supporting one another and displaying our Purple Pride.  #GaiterNation

I’m looking forward to my next few years here and not sure where my Bishop’s adventure will lead me, but one thing I want to do is take my interest in chess and start a BU Chess Club.  And of course we’ll make the Bishops on the board Purple!
