I chose Bishop’s due to its unique programs that are offered in the arts. Arts Administration which is a combined program blending fine arts with business, was only offered at two other Canadian institutions and the other two are much larger and are located in major urban centers which was not that appealing to me. I stayed at Bishop’s because of the amount of support I have received from the university, students, community and alumni. The support received has been truly awe-inspiring.

Where else but Bishop’s would I have received the chance to: perform on stage in Scotland at the world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival with ten fellow students; received internships to gain practical experience in my discipline; receive the financial support to pursue my passions; found a part time job on campus; been able to start the SwingBU swing dance club; and be constantly and tangibly encouraged by everyone around me. There are so many opportunities that I would have missed without Bishop’s support and all the people that make this place simply awesome!

My advice to prospective students is figure out what you want out of a university experience and don’t settle! Ask yourself what your expectations are and if any of them have anything to do with professors knowing your name and having a plethora of opportunities available to you, then there’s a good chance that some Gaiter Purple is in your future.
