I chose Bishop’s for its liberal education approach, which allowed me to have more control over the courses I could take. This allowed me to tailor my education to my personal needs, which further motivated me throughout my studies – this really wasn’t an option available at most other universities within Quebec. In addition, Bishop’s allowed me to study in English and become fluently bilingual in both official languages which was an important factor for me as it opens more doors and makes me more competitive when searching for jobs after graduation.

You can’t come to Bishop’s and not be involved in student life – it is simply impossible. When I walk over the bridge that crosses the Massawippi river towards campus every day and get that first glimpse of the McGreer building, I get a feeling of pure bliss as I’m reminded of how fortunate I am to attend an institution like Bishop’s. Some of my favourite activities include volunteering for many on campus events, such as Open House, and being a student ambassador for the Williams School of Business. I really enjoyed answering prospective student’s and their family’s questions and having the opportunity to provide insights about the university from the eyes of a student. I have also been a teaching assistant for three professors (one of the benefits of not having many graduate students is that undergraduate students get to assist professors on various research projects and classes!). I was also a BEST Project Fund recipient in 2018, which allowed me to work on a research paper with Dr. Denise Fortier, which we then presented at an international conference in Rome, Italy – what an amazing experience!

Outside of the Bishop’s bubble, I also compete in the sport of Olympic weightlifting at the national level. I will be heading to my fourth National Competition in 2019 where I placed second in Canada in my weight category in 2018. I’m focused and going to perform better than ever!
