Paterson is the newest building on campus, and home to the Residence and Conference Services office. It is very different from any other residence hall on campus, because it is the only building to offer suite-style accommodation. Each suite has four individual bedrooms, and suitemates share the use of a common area, kitchen, and two bathrooms.

Meet the RA team

Each of the RAs from Paterson has written a bio to welcome students. If you have any questions, please email the RA for your section.

SophiaHey Gaiters! My name is Sophia, and I’m entering my third year, studying Elementary Education. I’m pursuing a minor in Teaching English as a Second Language, but pretty much wish I had time for a minor in every discipline. When I’m not studying, you can find me dancing, reading, watching hockey (Go Flames!) or daydreaming about the Rocky Mountains. My food pyramid consists of chocolate, goldfish crackers, bananas, and black coffee. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and though I’m perpetually a wee bit homesick, a little piece of my heart stays at Bishop’s every time I go home. I’m delighted to be your Paterson SRA (Senior Resident Assistant) for the 2018-2019 school year!

Paterson is a very special residence building unlike any other. You get the best of both worlds, with the convenience and community aspect of living on campus combined with the independence that comes with your own apartment. From move in day, you’re already living with three roommates, and the familial experience is one you won’t find in any other building. You might just meet your best friends in your very own apartment! If you have any questions about this upcoming year in Paterson, anything else Bishop’s related, or just want to send me pictures of your dogs, you can reach me at and I’m happy to answer your questions, or point you towards someone who can. Have a wonderful summer, I can’t wait to meet you in September!

Taylor RohrHey Everyone!

My name is Taylor Rohr and I love long walks on the beach and candle light dinners. Just kidding! I am one of your Paterson RAs for the 2018-2019 school year! I am a third year student at Bishop’s University and I am in the Secondary Education program with a major in Social Studies and a minor in Drama. This is my second time on the Rezlife team and I look forward to creating some awesome events this year! I absolutely love Bishop’s and I actually found out about the school from a sister who came to study here years before me.

I am a very outgoing person, I love getting to know new people. I am very excited to meet all of you on move in day, I will most likely be dancing around. I have been a highland and tap dancer for 14 years. I also love drama, the theatre kind, not the high school type. I have been in a few festivals held at Bishop’s and I fully suggest taking part in the theatre program. I love movies and music, although I am embarrassingly in love with musicals so be cautious, if you mention a musical, I may burst into song.

I hope you are all excited for move in day, but if you have any questions, feel free to email me at I hope you are ready for a great year in Paterson, and if you have any events you absolutely want to see happen, please feel free to message me or come see me in September! My door is always open, like I said, I love meeting new people!

See you all soon!

Shawna Gile

Hey guys! I am Shawna Gile and for the 2018/2019 school year, I will be the Eco floor RA for Paterson building. I am a third year and majoring in Global Management and Leadership. I was born and raised in Derry, New Hampshire which is about four hours away. In New Hampshire we are surrounded by lakes, mountains and trees farther than the eye can see. I chose to attend Bishop’s University because it had everything I was looking for in a school; small student population, quiet town and lots of exchange programs. I love the look of excitement on people’s faces when I tell people that I attend college in a foreign country! The way I pay for school is through the scholarship money I earn from the Miss America Scholarship Organization. Yes, I am a pageant girl and NO, my favorite day is not April 25. When I compete in this program I perform a dance solo as my talent. I became involved in the dance team here at Bishop’s as a first year student. When I am not dancing or doing class work, I am addicted to reading. I am the biggest book nerd you will ever meet. If there is a movie that was first released as a book, be prepared, as I will tell you everything that didn’t happen on screen in the book. I am so excited to meet all of you! I know we’re going to have a great year together. Bishop’s is an amazing school and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. My number one advice for incoming first years is to bring everything you own that is purple. Trust me.

If you have any questions feel free to email me at Let’s go Gaiters!!

Adriana Burns

My name is Adriana Burns, a secondary education and TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) student, and I will be your third floor RA in Paterson for the 2018/19 school year. Bishop’s has always held a special place in my heart as my mother is an alumnus, and I feel blessed to be following in my mother’s footsteps.

With both of my parents in the Canadian Military, I have always found the concept of “home” difficult because of moving from one place to the other and always having to adapt quickly. The last places I have lived and still call home are Edmonton, Alberta and Victoria, British Columbia. Since coming to Bishop’s, I have felt like a part of a community that only wants the best for you; whether it be professors, counselors, community members, or friends, there is a community of people here for you. One thing I love about Bishop’s is the strong sense of interconnectedness. Being a small campus you get to know your professors, and they get to know you.  You’re not just a number, and this is something you would not get at a bigger university.

Living in Paterson provides you with an innate sense of community as you are sharing your apartment with three other students, providing you with a perfect balance of socializing and studies. You will find a range of people living in Paterson from all over Canada and the world, making for a diverse living community. Paterson is also in a perfect location: close to the SportsPlex as well as the dining hall, Dewies, and being partially surrounded by nature.

I did not know anyone when I arrived at Bishop’s, but through struggles and victories of adjustment, I was able to establish a strong network of friends and support on and off campus which helped me flourish within the community.

I am always around if you need help with the laundry machines, filling out work orders, unsure of locations around campus or anything else; I would be more than happy to help you. If I’m not in my apartment you can find my whereabouts on my door locator.

Some interesting facts about me are that I love to read, and I was extremely jealous of Belle in Beauty and the Beast when she received a library as a gift from the Beast. Many people describe me as a crazy dog lady, and they aren’t wrong.

If you have any questions you can reach me at and I will respond as quickly as I can.

Hope to see you all next year, and remember, BRING PURPLE!

Meet your RLC

Aline Pierrisnard

Aline PierrisnardHi future Gaiters!

My name is Aline Pierrisnard and I am one of your Residence Life Coordinators for Abbott, Kuehner, and Paterson. I live in an apartment in Mackinnon, but you can also find me in my office in Paterson during the day time. I am a full time staff member who is dedicated to ensuring that everyone’s experience in Residence is as safe and fun as can be!

I am a Bishop’s graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Sociology. I am originally from France but I have lived in the Middle East and UK for the majority of my life! I love going on walks and hiking, whether it be to de-stress, relax, or just for fun. Aside from walking, I am a huge fan of the TV shows Greys Anatomy, Criminal Minds, and NCIS. I am passionate about social justice, deconstructing false historical narratives, and small fluffy animals.

I hope you all have an amazing year here at Bishop’s and refer to it as your home away from home after just a couple weeks here! If you have any queries or concerns, or would just like more information so that your experience during move-in can be as rewarding and stress-free as possible, do not hesitate to contact me at or once on campus just swing by my office – located just down the hall from the Paterson front desk!

Don’t forget to bring your purple!
