B.E.S.T. Project Fund
Duncan is a second-year History student from Toronto, ON. From June till August, he will volunteer in the constituency office of the Member of Parliament Marco Mendicino. During this time, he will learn about the field of politics as he interacts with the office’s staff and the MP.
Originally from New Zealand, Sam is a third-year student pursuing a BBA in Accounting. He will participate in a two-week course in International Business & Management hosted by CBL International and Magdalene College (University of Cambridge). The program focuses on the nature and scope of management within international economic enterprises.
Maël is a fourth-year student from Sherbrooke, QC studying in Psychology (Neuroscience). He will intern in an Oxford University laboratory learning how to use brain-imaging technologies for pain research.
Rachel is a third-year student from Gatineau, QC pursuing a double-major in Drama and Arts Administration. Along with a group of Drama students, she will be performing at the Edinburgh Fringe, the world’s largest arts festival.
Melissa is a third-year Fine Arts and Psychology student from Sherbrooke, QC. She will attend a two-week Mental Health Training course at the Cape Cod Institute. Through these classes, she will learn techniques to more effectively help those in her community through therapeutic means.
Sarah is a second-year student from Aylmer, QC in the International Studies program. She will complete a two-month internship as part of the European Union Internship Program offered by the University of Victoria. She will observe policy-making firsthand and learn more about the political functioning of the European Union.
Coming from Waterloo, ON, Jocelyn is finishing the first year of her Masters of Arts in Education. Over the summer, she will study the demographics of the Eastern Township’s low-literacy Anglophone population by creating a survey, collecting the data and analyzing the results. The conclusions of Jocelyn’s study will be given as an information package to the Literacy in Action group to bridge their 2014-2018 data gap.
Myriam is a second-year Applied Psychology student from Gatineau, QC. She will complete a two-month work experience with a clinical psychologist in Togo. She will shadow clinical work, organize awareness campaigns as well as incorporate a mental health services section to Caravan Compassion, a mobile medical clinic for rural communities in West Africa.
Nicolas is a third-year Business Administration student from Montreal, Quebec. He will be presenting his research findings at the 6th International Conference on Sustainable Development in Rome, Italy.
Christophe Turcotte-van De Rydt
Christophe is a second-year Biology student from Sherbrooke, QC. He will spend the summer volunteering at Long Point Bird Observatory on Lake Erie. He will be collecting information on bird species as part of the Breeding Bird Census.
Kayley is a fourth-year Music Education student from Dartmouth, NS. She will attend the Kodaly Institute’s Summer School in Hungary to learn the Kodaly music education method and further develop teaching and musicianship skills.
