B.E.S.T. Project Fund
Daniella is a second year Psychology student from Montreal. This summer, Daniella will work as a research assistant at McGill University’s School of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She will also volunteer in the speech department at Morneau Shepell Parcours d’enfant.
Briar is a third year student from Ottawa studying Classical Studies and Neuroscience. This summer, Briar will take part in a volunteer excavation of the Vindola Historic Site in Northumberland, England, a Roman fortress from the first century A.D.
Junru is a second year student in the International Studies program from Beijing, China. Junru will participate in a three-month internship in Mongolia with Mercy Corps, a non-governmental organization focused on emergency relief, community building, and refugee sheltering.
William is a third year student from Knowlton, pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and a Major in International Studies. William will participate in a six-month internship with the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) in Thailand.
Alexa is a third year student from Ottawa completing a degree in Biology, with a Concentration in Health Sciences and a Double Major in Pre-Medicine. This summer, Alexa will hold an internship position in the Genetics Department at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
Jake is a second year student from Burlington with a Double Major in Psychology and Neuroscience and a Minor in Drama. Jake will participate in a fourth-month internship with the Integrative Physiology of Brain Arousal Systems Lab at the Lyon Neuroscience Research Centre in Lyon, France.
William is a second year student from Dorval, Q.C. pursuing a Major in Sociology, with a Concentration in Criminology, Law and Social Policy. This summer, William will participate in the “Hawai’i Innocence Project,” a law school clinic in Honolulu which provides free legal services to inmates.
Vanessa is a third year Biology student from Curitiba, Brazil. This summer, Vanessa will partake in a research project on cardiovascular disease treatment at the University of Sherbrooke. She will present the project at an American Heart Association symposium in November 2018.
Charles is a third year Biochemistry student from Bromont. In June 2017, Charles will attend the 100th Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition in Toronto, where he will present the results of his internship research from Summer 2016.
Abdelbassit is an Algerian student in the first year of the Master’s in Astrophysics program. This summer, Abdelbassit will attend the Modules for Experiments in Stellar Astrophysics (MESA) Summer School at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He intends to use this experience to complete his Master’s project at Bishop’s.
Simon is a third year Psychology student from Saint-Jerome, QC. In June 2017, Simon will attend a nine-day intensive training workshop on Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in Copenhangen, Denmark. The program aims to teach practical skills that can be used in community work, psychotherapy, education, social activism, and peacemaking.
