It was never my plan to go Bishop’s; I only applied because my older sister did (though she didn’t end up going). When I applied I literally knew nothing about the school, I didn’t even know what town it was in! Bishop’s was the first university that I was accepted to, so it was exciting for me. Being accepted made me think about Bishop’s a bit more which led to me booking a campus tour. I really enjoyed the campus but even after the tour, it still wasn’t my plan to come here. I started getting things in the mail about the school, which I would read, that would talk about fun events like Winterfest and Homecoming. I became a bit more curious so I asked my friend who was currently at Bishop’s in first year to tell me more about the school. She told me that she went home for Thanksgiving weekend and missed being at school. I was so surprised and thought, how could school be that fun? So I looked into it even more, and realized that I would much prefer a smaller school and really liked the idea that it had a liberal arts focus. Right after all of this, one of my best friends (from another high school), and my cousin both accepted their offers to Bishop’s. I took this as a sign and told my parents that Bishop’s was my number one choice. My parents were so excited, as my aunt went to BU and graduated in ‘85. They told me stories of them going to visit her years ago and how much they loved it. As soon as I accepted my offer, I started counting down the days until move-in day. Even after my first day here at Bishop’s, I knew that this was the school for me. My parents literally told me that they’ve never seen me more happy. My sister came to visit for a weekend and now she’s planning on accepting her offer as well!

My favourite experience thus far would have to be Homecoming – I LOVED all of the school spirit and interacting with alumni. It’s so much fun to see the whole community come together and show off our school spirit and cheer on our sports teams. I don’t think I’ve ever worn more purple in my entire life! And if you think you have enough purple, bring more – there is NEVER enough purple!
