Graduated with a BBA’17 with a concentration in Human Resources management. I first stepped onto the Bishop’s campus in the Fall of 2013 for a campus tour after hearing about Bishop’s through a friend. 10 months later, I was getting my student ID and starting my Bishop’s journey. I got involved in a variety of activities on campus notably with the Commerce society, dance club, rock climbing club and Big Buddies. I also worked with residence life as a resident assistant in Kuehner, participated in facilitating Orientation week as a Judge and completed an independent study during my last year. Needless to say, Bishop’s opened the door to participating in multiple experiences to satisfy my curiosity for everything and broaden my thinking. For me, choosing Bishop’s was one of the best things I did because it provided a close knit community and enabled me to grow tremendously throughout my university career. Today, I can say without a doubt that given the choice, I would choose Bishop’s again.
Hey future Gaiters! My name is Sophie Jacques and I am from Sherbrooke, Quebec. I graduated from Bishop’s with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. Before attending Bishop’s in 2012, I had never studied at an English school, I had always attended French schools. So for me, attending an English school for the first time was expected to be difficult, which I was ready for. Pursuing my university studies, as well as learning to improve my English, was a huge challenge, but look at me now, graduated and now working with the recruitment team! During my undergrad, Bishop’s gave me the confidence to be who I wanted to be, knowing my own beliefs and morals would be respected by both my peers and faculty. It is now my time to give back to the university that allowed me to become the person I am today. I am more than thrilled to be on the recruitment team and I look forward to sharing my passion for Bishop’s University to future prospective students! Au plaisir de vous rencontrer et de discuter avec vous!
I may be the only member of the Admissions and Recruitment team that did not grow up in the Eastern Townships or go to Bishop’s, but I was a regular visitor to the area and to the campus for fifteen years before moving to Sherbrooke in 2017! I have spent most of my teaching career working with students from grade 4 up to grade 12, and I now enjoy helping those students make the transition from secondary to post-secondary studies. Born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area, I also lived in the Midwest and in New England where my husband taught at American universities before joining the English department at Bishop’s. We have three elementary-school aged children who can often be found decked out in purple at Bishop’s sports events!
Born in Newfoundland and raised in the West-Island of Montreal, I am a proud Bishop’s University alum, having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Major in English: Cultural and Media studies. During my time at BU I was captain of the Varsity Men’s basketball team, a writer and editor for The Campus newspaper, and helped organize the inaugural ALS walk during Orientation week, to name a few things. I oversee the day-to-day operations in our Recruitment, Admissions, and Student Exchange offices as well as participate and help organize a myriad of other events on and off campus. Married at the St Mark’s chapel on campus to a proud BU alum, I live in Lennoxville with my wife Christine and our four kids.
Having graduated from the B.B.A. program in 2016, I knew that Bishop’s will forever hold a dear place in my heart. After a couple of years working in the private sector with different companies while also working for the government, I was offered the opportunity to come work for BU as an admissions officer and since then I have been grateful to be an influential part of selecting the next generation of Gaiters. Raise a toast!
I’m Lyssa and while my family roots are in the Eastern Townships region, I grew up in London, ON and I graduated from BU with a double major in Political Studies and International Studies with a minor in French Language Studies. Bishop’s was perfect for me, not only on a social level, but in terms of academics as well. I learn best with a personalized teaching approach and this is exactly what Bishop’s provided. I would not change my Bishop’s experience one bit.
I am the Campus Tours and Events Coordinator but I also visit with students across the Eastern Townships region of Quebec, so watch for me at your local CEGEP. My fun fact is that I LOVE horses and Dogs! You can catch me at rodeos, races, or hiking the mountains in Quebec.

Originally from Kitchener, Ontario but I’ve lived in three other provinces since then and have spent the last 17 years working in higher education for four Canadian universities including my alma mater, the one and only Bishop’s University. I completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in History at BU before I went on and completed a Masters in Communications Studies degree and a University Teaching Certificate. Although my time as a student at Bishop’s was so long ago I fondly remember being involved in a variety of things such as being a member of the now defunct Varsity Men’s volleyball team, a DJ for the radio station, Orientation leader, member of the history, geography and ski & snowboard clubs, and a campus tour guide. I also lived in residence – Norton 4th floor with my roommate Paul who I still keep in touch with 25 years later! Today I’ve taken my residence experience to a whole new level as my wife and two children live in one of the houses located right on campus – nothing beats a five minute walk to work. There is no colour in the world better than Purple and no better place to be than in Lennoxville on the Bishop’s campus! Raise a Toast.
Graduated with a BA’18 Honours Political Studies, International Studies. I come from Cali, Colombia and I first came to BU as an exchange student from a Colombian university. I decided to transfer and get my degree from Bishop’s because the academic level, passion and dedication I found here motivated me to love even more what I studied and enjoy every course. Moreover, Bishop’s offers resources, such as the writing center, that made my transition to an English university smooth. It has been my best decision to transfer and becoming a Gaiter! Bishop’s isn’t just a university, it is a full experience. I will continue my chapter at BU on the recruitment team looking for future Gaiters. Either in English, Spanish, French or even Portuguese, I will make my best effort to help you discover BU!
