The least expensive way to make international phone calls is probably to use Skype, provided you have access to an Internet connection. You can also buy a prepaid sim card for your mobile phone once you arrive in Canada.

Textbooks

You will probably be required to purchase several textbooks for your classes. You can buy them at the Doolittles’s Co-op on campus.

You may also find some used books in second-hand stores: Black Cat book store, 168 Queen Street, Lennoxville.

Tip

When you go to a restaurant or a bar, you are expected to give the waiter a tip (15 % is the usual amount).

Working On Campus

As an international student, you may be eligible to work in Canada while studying. See the Working in Canada web page.

Writing Centre

You wrote a paper in English and you want someone to correct it before handing it in? You can make an appointment at the Writing Center; it’s free to students. A piece of advice: don’t wait until the last minute to make your appointment. See the Writing Centre website for more details.
