Home > Future Students > Admission Process > Letter of Intent – Hold Status

Upon an initial evaluation of a complete application, applicants may receive a message from a member of the Admissions team informing them that their file has been placed on Hold Status.

In addition to updated marks (if not already submitted), applicants may be asked to submit a Letter of Intent. As would be outlined in the message from Admissions, the Letter of Intent should answer the following questions:

  • Why, if you receive an offer of admission, would you enroll at Bishop’s in the program you have selected?
  • What from your previous educational, personal, and/or professional experience(s) makes you prepared for university-level study?
  • If applicable, outline with a clear timeline any extenuating circumstances that may have impacted your academic performance and why these circumstances are no longer an issue and/or how they will be managed while at Bishop’s.

The letter should be sent directly to the Admissions Office by email (admissions@ubishops.ca) or uploaded via the Submit Missing Documents feature with the myBU Applicant Portal by no later than the deadline provided in the message. Once submitted, a new file evaluation will occur, taking the information provided in the letter into consideration.
