You are considered a CAPE Diploma Student for admission purposes if you:

  • are currently preparing to write CAPE examinations; or you
  • completed CAPE Diploma within the last two years and you have not studied elsewhere since completing your secondary school studies

Admission Requirements:

The following requirements should be used as a guideline to be considered competitive for admissions consideration. Each admission cycle, Bishop’s University receives more applications than spaces available. Meeting the minimum posted requirements does not guarantee admission. Applicants who do not meet the posted requirements may be considered on an individual basis. In those cases, the Admissions Office may request additional information in addition to that indicated below.

General requirements:

We are looking for academically strong and well-rounded students with academic requirements as follows:

  • Six CAPE units in at least four subject areas with an overall average of III or greater and no grade lower than IV

Students who complete six CAPE units with a score of III or better on each are eligible to receive 30 advanced standing credits, equivalent to one year of full-time study.

Required Supporting Documents: All Applicants

  • Copy of score reports from your CAPE exams already completed.
  • Copy of personal identification document(s). Consult the Personal Identification Documents page to determine what document(s) you must provide.

Bishop’s University takes a holistic approach to the admissions process. All relevant additional documentation submitted by the applicant will be considered. At its discretion, the Admissions Office may formally request additional supporting documentation (personal statement, letter of intent, letter of recommendation, essay, CV, etc..) to aid in the evaluation of an application.

How to Submit Documents

All supporting documentation can be uploaded via our online system at the time of application or can be submitted via your myBU Applicant Portal via the “Submit Missing Documents” option. They can also be sent to us via email to admissions@ubishops.ca.

Admission Timeline

Once the evaluation period has begun for an admissions cycle, files are assessed on a rolling basis. What this means is that as soon as all required documents are received, our office will complete an initial evaluation within 10 business days. (Exception: Master’s Programs, Applications for our Music programs, which need to be evaluated based on their audition as well, and competitive admissions programs).
