SRC Blood Drive with Héma-Québec
January 23 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Did you know that blood is an irreplaceable resource, and that to meet the needs of the Québec population, Héma-Québec must collect 1,000 donations each day? In fact, every 80 seconds, someone in Québec needs blood. As a result, maintaining the collective blood supply depends on the generosity of those who feel compelled to share the wealth of their health.
Despite the 50% probability that a person or someone in her entourage will be requiring a blood transfusion, and despite the fact that one can give blood every 56 days to help those in need, ONLY 3% of Quebecers who qualify to give blood do so.
The body quickly replenishes the quantity of blood donated, which amounts to a little less than half a litre (450 ml). The blood donation itself takes ten minutes and the entire process takes about one hour.
This is why we would like to invite you, as well as your friends and family, to save lives by giving blood at the Bishop’s University blood donor clinic, to be held on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019 at the John H. Price Sports and Recreation Centre from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
If you travelled outside Canada or the United States, please check whether you qualify either by calling 1-800-847-2525 or by going to www.hema-quebec.qc.ca, Blood > Donors > Who Can Donate? > Travel > Malaria section.
Your support is precious to us all.
