Johnson Greenhouse & Renovated Labs Inauguration
August 30 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Bishop’s University will inaugurate its newly renovated laboratories and greenhouse in the Johnson Science Building on August 30th, 2019!
The new greenhouse features 4.6 m ceilings, allowing for the cultivation of different varieties of hops, trees, and shrubs; a control system connected to a meteorological station; snowfall-activated roof warmers to prevent snow or ice buildup; water recuperation for irrigation, opaque curtains to limit light pollution; and timer-controlled lights to ensure year-round operation. The newly renovated laboratories include communal research spaces for faculty and students working on many different research projects in organic chemistry, biodiversity, epidemiology, and cell biology; modernized teaching labs in organic and analytical chemistry; improved safety features; renovated study rooms; and card-readers for access doors to improve safety and accessibility.
These new facilities are outstanding resources for learning, teaching and research, allowing students to give free rein to their curiosity, creativity and innovation.
