Bishop’s University Registrar Hans Rouleau receives national recognition

Dear Bishop’s Community,

I am pleased to announce that Hans Rouleau, Bishop’s University Registrar, was selected to receive an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada (ARUCC) at its annual meeting in Charlottetown from June 17-20, 2018.  This award honors his contributions to and the registrarial profession, to Bishop’s and to the improvement of service to students.

During the past eight years as Registrar, Hans has been heavily involved with the implementation of a new student information system, and with the removing of the “silos” between recruitment, admissions, and the Registrar’s Office and developing an enrolment management culture at Bishop’s University.

Hans Rouleau, Bishop’s University Registrar

On the national scene, Hans has been very involved with the Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada (ARUCC). From 2010 to 2016, he served on the Executive as Vice President, President, and Past President.

Hans took over the presidency of ARUCC during an important turnover within the executive. Under his leadership, Hans led the redesigning of the Association’s website, he was pivotal in annual conference organization, especially the 2014 gathering, he continued to establish administrative support, and foster research opportunities within the organization including:

  • An ARUCC sponsored Student Success Study;
  • Updating the National Transcript Guide;
  • Creating a Transfer Mobility Nomenclature Database;
  • Sessional Date Study.

Also, under his leadership, an online community among registrars across Canada was established to facilitate sharing of best practices.

His involvement beyond Bishop’s and ARUCC includes leadership at the BCI Registrars’ meetings. In particular, he was part of an experts team that assisted the Quebec Ministry of Education to develop a new system for coding new courses for funding purposes.

Please join me in congratulating Hans! This award highlights his accomplishments and brings positive attention to our institution!
