Build a Better Purple

Build a Better Purple (or BABP for short) is a proud Bishop’s tradition that aims to foster a culture of philanthropy amongst current students. Whether you are “giving a little purple back” to the annual Bishop’s University graduating class gift campaign, swinging a club at the annual BABP Rubber Ducky Golf  Tournament Fundraiser, or participating in the various donor stewardship initiatives such as Purple Tag Day, you are actively participating in “Building a Better Purple”.

November 15th – Purple Tag Day:

An annual event where students celebrate the impact of donations by tagging the campus to show the items, experiences and places made possible through the support of our amazing donors!  Purple Tag Day is an opportunity to raise awareness on campus of the important role philanthropic support plays on a daily basis at our University, and to thank our thousands of supporters.  It is our chance to show gratitude to the donors who have a meaningful impact on the experiences of students every day.

Grad Class Gift Campaign:

Each year the graduating class is encouraged to “Give a Little Purple Back” by making donations of $10 at BABP hosted events throughout their final semester, culminating over convocation weekend. Donations raised by the graduating class fund projects proposed by current students, voted on by those graduates who participate in their campaign. Graduating students who contribute to the BABP fund also receive a purple ribbon to wear proudly on their gown during convocation.

Past Grad Class Campaign Project Winners:

Class of 2014 – Toast Radio

Toast Radio is a student-run online radio station currently running from back at campus. This project creates a meaningful and engaging extra-curricular experience for students. It also acts as an opportunity for students to hone in on their media skills while sharing relevant, timely information to current students and alumni who listen. Tune in today!

Class of 2015 – Bishop’s Bees

Bishop’s Bees brought two honeybee hives to campus and campus can’t stop buzzing about it! Now, community members can purchase delicious honey produced by bees right in our own backyard. This project is a great success and continues to contribute to the campus and local environments.

Class of 2015 – Purple Records

Up until 2015, the Music Department was missing just one element to continue to help it stand out among the rest – a recording studio. With the support of the class of 2015’s funds, Purple Records, became a reality. Now, students, faculty and special guests can participate in this incredible collaborative effort to provide musicians with an opportunity to record their music right on campus.
