Social science is the study of human society and social relationships

Explore the human impact; gain a better understanding of the human mind and behavior.

The Division of Social Sciences offers a wide array of courses and programs leading to both Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degrees and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degrees in the areas of Economics, Environment, Agriculture and Geography, Politics and International Studies, Psychology, Sociology, and Sports Studies.

In addition, the Departments offer Honours programs directed towards students who wish to attain higher levels of specialization in their discipline and intend to pursue graduate studies; several departments also offer Minor programs that add to one’s Honours/Major and/or Certificate. Besides, an entry-level program allows a limited number of students to register as Divisional Majors (rather than into a specific program) for a maximum of two semesters.

Not sure which program suits you most? Have questions about the specific requirements of the program? If you are interested in Economics, Environment, Agriculture and Geography, or Psychology, make an appointment with Ms. Laura Rezlescu, our dedicated Academic Advisor of Sciences, or email her at scienceadvisor@ubishops.ca. If you are pursuing studies in Politics and International Studies, Sociology, or Sports Studies, contact Ms. Justina Browne, the Academic Advisor of Arts, at artsadvisor@ubishops.ca.

Or, if you have more general questions about attending Bishop’s, please contact the recruitment team.
