    The Faculty of Arts and Science houses all departments and programs at Bishop’s with the notable exceptions of the professional schools of Business and Education. The Faculty is organized into three divisions: Humanities, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Social Sciences. Also attached to the Arts and Science are an Observatory,  a state-of-the-art Greenhouse, the 550 seat Centennial Theatre and the innovative Foreman Art Gallery.

    The Dean of Arts is responsible for the Division of Humanities as well as the departments of Politics and International Studies, Sociology, and Sports Studies from the Division of Social Sciences. The Dean of Science is responsible for the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics as well as the departments of  Economics, Environment and Geography, and Psychology from the Division of Social Sciences. The departmental responsibilities of the two Deans are summarized below. Together, the Offices of the Deans of Arts and Science serve as the academic and administrative anchor to approximately 80 full-time professors, another 80 or so part-time instructors, and close to 1800 full-time students.

    Dean of Arts

    Dr. Murray has an M.A. in Second Temple period Jewish history from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a Ph.D. in Religion, specializing in Christian Origins, from the University of Toronto. She is also a Professor in the Department of Religion. Her research areas include Jewish-Christian relations in the ancient world, and interaction among Eastern-Mediterranean religions in late antiquity.

    Dr. Kerry Hull

    Dean of Science

    Dr. Hull is a Professor in the Department of Biology, and has been at Bishop’s University since 1997. She has a Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Alberta, specializing in Comparative Endocrinology. Dr. Hull had an active experimental endocrinology research program for 15 years, publishing over 30 articles. Her current research focusses on the development and implementation of active learning strategies in Anatomy and Physiology courses. She also authors Anatomy and Physiology and Introductory Biology textbooks and has recently retired from her position as the Editor in Chief of the HAPS Educator, the journal of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society.
