Last Year:

Macalister Arendt completed her Honours in 2022 with a thesis entitled “Drawn to the Devil: Femininity and Concepts of Evil in the New England Witch Trials.” She is currently at Concordia University in Montreal pursuing her M.A.

Previous Years:

Michael Bilodeau wrote his Honours thesis on “The Spirituality of Libraries”. He will be attending graduate school in the fall.

Etienne Domingue did his Honours thesis on “Jewish Demonology and the Problem of Evil”.

Kathryn Neeley did her Honours thesis on “Post-Holocaust Jewish-Christian Relations: Reactions and Responses”.  She is at Queen’s University pursuing her MA.

Rebecca Bates is attending Huron College in the MDiv programme, in preparation for the Anglican ministry.

Steve Edwards did his honours thesis jointly in Religion and Classics, entitled “Ramparts in Ancient Palestine: An Analysis of Middle Bronze II Earthworks and Their Functions in Urban Environments”. He spent an archaeological summer in Egypt and Jordan — he has worked in the Jordan archaeology project for the last three years (see Rel. 241). He is planning on doing graduate work in Archaeology.

Kristyne Houbraken is in Thailand, on the border with Myanmar (Burma) teaching English to refugee Burmese children with the Mae Sot Project. Having completed one year there, she will be returning for a second one, along with some new volunteers from Bishop’s. The leadership of the project have expressed their great appreciation and gratitude for the contribution that  Kristyne has made, and will continue to make to the project. We received some pictures:

Recent Past Years:

Rebecca King wrote her Honours thesis jointly in Religion and Liberal Arts: “Modernity’s Theological Battle: Authenticity and Instrumental Reason”. She received her MA from Queens, and is now a PhD candidate at Toronto.

Kristan Light wrote an Honours thesis on “The Lilith Myth in Jewish Literature”. She went on to do graduate work at Toronto.

Sara Pelton did her Honours thesis jointly in Religion and Philosophy on “An Examination of Rudolf Bultmann’s Ontology”. She is now a PhD Candidate at McMaster. She also spent time in Germany in connection with her MA programme.

Sally Paddock did her Honours thesis jointly in Religion and Biology. The subject was physiological explanations of Religion: “Do it with a Limp”. She will be entering the MA programme at Boston University in anticipation of doing her PhD. there.

Mark Josephson wrote his Honours thesis on “St. Antony: An Origenist Monk”.

Annie Ogle wrote an Honours thesis jointly in Religion and Sociology: “Shared Space: Ethics, Authority and the Body”. She has been teaching in Montreal, and is going to enter the M.A. programme at McGill this fall.

Ildiko Glaser-Hille entered the MA programme at Concordia.

Victoria Newman wrote her Honours thesis jointly in Religion and Philosophy on “Conversion and Truth in Augustine’s Confessions”. She .is presently working on her Ph.D. at St. Louis University.

Angela Sutherland wrote an honours thesis on “Women and the Cult of Isis”, and did her MA at Concordia.

Helena Allan‘s honours thesis was on “The Development of Mariology”. She is at Queens in both the MTS and MDiv programmes, preparing for a career in the ministry.

Sarah Doran wrote an honours thesis entitled “Was Jesus a Cynic Philosopher?” She did graduate work at Memorial University.

Margaret McConnell wrote an honours thesis on “Women in Gnosticism”.
