Come join singers from across Canada in New York City for an unforgettable choral experience singing Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42 on the main stage of Carnegie Hall!

Mendelssohn described his setting of Psalm 42 as “my best sacred piece…the best thing I have composed in this manner”, a work that “I hold in greater regard than most of my other compositions”.

Residency dates: March 14th – March 18th, 2024
Performance date: March 17th, 2024

In preparation for the performance, the following would be provided:

  • A lecture on the historical background of Psalm 42 and of composer Felix Mendelssohn
  • Rehearsals to learn the work (Psalm 42, to be sung in German)
  • Workshops in German diction
  • Online choral tracks
  • Preparatory videos

How much does it cost?

Bishop’s University Students: $1,500.00

Bishop’s Alumni, Faculty, Community members, and non-BU students: $2,000.00

Fees cover:

  • Registration – includes participation in all rehearsals and concert.
  • Post-concert dinner cruise (two-hour sail, featuring views of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline).
  • Souvenir poster.
  • Hotel accommodation.
  • Travel expenses (via car and train).
