Strike and Warning Policy

The strike and warning system of the EXPLORE program aims to maintain an optimal intensive learning environment. In order to fully benefit from the immersion, you must adhere to the Contract. Failure to comply with the stipulated rules and regulations will result in the application of the Strike and Warning Policy.

Strike and Warning System Procedure

It is the student’s responsibility to attend class, workshops, and all other mandatory activities on time and well-prepared out of respect for everyone.

  1. Arriving more than 5 minutes and up to 15 minutes late to class will result in one strike.
  2. Arriving more than 15 minutes late to class will result in two strikes.
  3. Any unjustified absence to class will result in two strikes.
  4. Any unjustified absence or arriving more than 5 minutes late to workshops or mandatory activities will result in one strike.
  5. Arriving more than 5 minutes and up to 15 minutes late to the weekly general meeting will result in one strike.
  6. Arriving more than 15 minutes late to the weekly general meeting will be considered as an unjustified absence (refer to point 7).
  7. Any unjustified absence to the weekly general meeting will result in two strikes.
  8. Speaking any language other than English will result in one strike.
  9. Any disrespect towards another student or staff member will result in a strike. It is not permitted to go into another student’s room without authorization.

It is the student’s responsibility to speak English at all times during the EXPLORE program: during class, workshops, sociocultural activities, meal times, evenings, and weekends. We understand that it can be difficult to meet these expectations, but it is the best way to learn and master a language.

It is the student’s responsibility to inform their parents if they receive strikes or warnings during the program.

When a student receives 6 strikes during the program, they will be asked to leave the program.

Any student who receives six or more strikes will NOT be allowed to complete the EXPLORE program and will NOT receive the diploma. Moreover, the student will be asked to leave the program.

Expulsion Procedure

The student will be asked to meet the Program Director. The student will then contact their parents to advise them that they have been expelled.

Parents must come to campus to pick up their child during the same day. Once a student has been expelled, they will not be able to attend classes or activities while waiting for their parents nor integrate back into the group.
