Arrival

What to do when you arrive:

Participants must arrive on the first day of their session, between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. and go to the Marjorie Donald House (see campus map, B11). You will have to complete a short oral communication and comprehension assessment with a professor in order to determine your classroom level.

Students will also receive a welcome package including the complete schedule for the duration of the program, a key to the residence, and a student ID.

After settling into their room, students will gather at the Dewhurst Dining Hall where they will be introduced to all the other Explore – ESL Immersion participants at the welcome BBQ. General information about the program will be provided followed by a guided campus tour.

If you arrive before Monday:

If you must arrive before the first day of your session, please contact the Residence and Conference Services at 819-822-9600 ext. 2685.

If you arrive before 1:00 p.m. on the first day of your session, you are welcome to visit the campus on your own or patiently wait until 1:00 p.m. so that our team is ready to greet you.

Departure

What to do before you leave:

  • Tidy your room
  • Pack all your belongings
  • Return your key to a monitor

Students are permitted to leave after having written their final exam and the program evaluations on the last Thursday of their session. However, students are invited to attend the “graduation” ceremony where refreshment and cake will be served and program certificates will be granted. All students are expected to leave campus by 11:00 a.m. on the last Friday of their session. Breakfast will be the last meal served during the program.
