About the Program

The Bishop’s University ESL immersion is offered to students 18 years and older. The program has been offered for over 50 years by highly qualified university professors. The objectives of the program are to enhance communication abilities, develop further comprehension, increase vocabulary and improve grammar skills while speaking only in English. Our courses focus on comprehension, conversation, grammar and reading skills. Although the program is very demanding, we are convinced that you will appreciate your experience.

Three Ways to Participate:

1. Government Funded Student

A student who has been granted funding on behalf of Canadian Heritage must complete the 5-week immersion program. They must live on campus for the duration of the program and adhere to the rules and regulations. At the end of the immersion, they will obtain 6 university credits.

2. Complete Immersion Student

The Complete Immersion Student is one who pays the registration fees out of pocket. The student is expected to complete the 5-week immersion program, remain on campus throughout the program, and adhere to all the rules and regulations of the program in order to obtain 6 university credits.

Program fees:

  • Québec – $2,700.00
  • Canada – $3,600.00
  • International – $6,000.00

To apply as a Complete Immersion Student:

  1. Pay your registration fees of $275 using the Registration Payment online form (available soon).
  2. In April, you will receive an email with registration instructions and documents to submit.

3. Day Student

The Day Student is a resident of the Eastern Townships, is one who pays the registration fees out of pocket, but does not reside on campus throughout the 5-week immersion. The Day Student is expected to attend all class time, complete all workshops, and adhere to all the rules and regulations of the program in order to obtain 6 university credits. *Proof of residency required.

Registration fees:

  • $1,200.00

  2. In April, you will receive an email with registration instructions and documents to submit.
