Appointments of Associate Vice-Principal Academic and Dean of Science

On August 31, 2020, the Board of Governors approved the appointment of Dr. Claire Grogan as Associate Vice-Principal Academic and Dr. Kerry Hull as Dean of Science, effective September 1st, 2020, for a three-year period.

Dr. Grogan is a Full Professor of English. She is an internationally renowned scholar in the area of feminist politics in British women’s writing, particularly in the 18th century. Over the years since her first appointment at Bishop’s in 1994, Dr. Grogan has contributed to the University in significant and varied ways. She was Chair of the Department of English on two occasions during which she played a key role in program renewal. Her service to the Association of Professors of Bishop’s University has included a role as Faculty negotiator, member of the Pension Committee and as First Vice President & Grievance Officer. She has served on the Faculty Evaluation Committee, the Senate Planning Committee, the Senate Research & Scholarship Committee and was co-Chair of the University’s Status of Women Committee. Moreover, in the 2019-20 academic year, she was interim co-Dean and then interim Dean of Arts & Science. Dr. Grogan has also served on Senate and on the Board of Governors.

Dr. Hull is a Full Professor in the Department of Biology. She was appointed as Assistant Professor at Bishop’s in 1998. Dr. Hull is recognized and appreciated by her students as an excellent professor. Her scholarly dossier includes an impressive variety of research projects, publications, conference presentations and knowledge mobilization activities in her fields of expertise, especially in the teaching of anatomy and physiology. Her role as Editor in Chief of the Journal of Human Anatomy and Physiology is but one of the highlights of her impressive dossier. Dr. Hull has assumed many different service and leadership roles over the years at Bishop’s, including the coordination of the renovation and modernization of the Johnson Building and her experience as co-Dean of Arts & Science in the fall of 2019. She has served on both Senate and the Board of Governors.

Both Drs. Grogan and Hull will provide leadership in support of our strategic objectives and our goal of offering the foremost undergraduate education in Canada.
