As senior administrator and officer of the University, the Dean’s mandate includes:

  1. Concern for the overall need and long-term improvement of student life, Student Services and the efficient operation of certain Ancillary Services.

  2. Responsibility for the overall coordination and quality of Student Services which includes Athletics, Campus Ministry, Career & Employment, Counselling Services, Health Services, Residence Life, Security, Students with Disabilities.

  3. Responsibility for the following Ancillary Services including: Arena, Bookstore, Residence & Conference Services, Golf Course, Sports Centre and Sports Medicine.

  4. Student Conduct - The Dean of Student Affairs is responsible for ensuring respect for the Charter of Student Rights and Responsibilities. This includes receiving student complaints about alleged infringements of their rights by other students or University staff members and resolving these.
    It also includes providing support to the Committee on Student Conduct - primarily to ensure that all existing procedures are defensible in light of principles of due process and natural justice. She is also responsible for recommending appropriate sanctions to the Principal in cases of major violations of the Charter of Student Rights and Responsibilities.

  5. Working closely with the Students' Representative Council (S.R.C.), at times, her role is that of an advisor and partner on projects initiated either by the university or the S.R.C. At others, her role is that of ensuring the respect of the University’s policies and approving the use of University property for major student activities and events.
