Stine Linden-Andersen joined the department of psychology in 2013. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Concordia University and teaches courses related to the clinical area of psychology such as: couples therapy, family therapy, sexuality and cultural psychology. Her research interests are within social and clinical psychology; more specifically her doctoral research examined how friends tend to become more similar over time with regards to prosociality and depressive symptoms. Dr. Linden-Andersen’s proposed research projects include a more specific examination of transmission of psychopathology through friendships and possible prevention strategies.

When to see the Dean

When you want to discuss issues of University policy and student life in general – to become informed, voice criticisms or demonstrate support.
To explore a complaint informally and confidentially first and evaluate your options.
To make suggestions for the improvement of Student Services, Ancillary Services and the quality of campus life.
To bring forward complaint about areas under the jurisdiction of the Dean which cannot first be resolved with the manager of the service in question.
Regarding issues of discipline, safety, academic standing and resources for assistance, special funding for student projects, and alcohol permits.
To talk about programs, facilities and issues of joint concern to the S.R.C. and the University.
In the event of the death of a student, please follow procedures.

Confidentiality

All individual meetings with the Dean are kept strictly confidential. In keeping with provincial law, your name and the nature of the discussion will not be revealed to anyone (including parents) without your permission or except as necessary, with legally authorized persons, to help resolve your problem.

As senior administrator and officer of the University, the Dean’s mandate includes:

Concern for the overall need and long-term improvement of student life, Student Services and the efficient operation of certain Ancillary Services.
Responsibility for the overall coordination and quality of Student Services which includes Varsity Sports, Career Development and Academic Support, Counselling Services, L.E.A.P. Program, Health Services, Residence Life, Security, Student Accessibility & Accommodation Services, and Campus Ministry.
Responsibility for the following Ancillary Services including: Arena, Bookstore, Residence & Conference Services, Golf Course, Sports Centre and Sports Medicine.
Student Conduct – The Dean of Student Affairs is responsible for ensuring respect for the Charter of Student Rights and Responsibilities. This includes receiving student complaints about alleged infringements of their rights by other students or University staff members and resolving these.
It also includes providing support to the Committee on Student Conduct – primarily to ensure that all existing procedures are defensible in light of principles of due process and natural justice. She is also responsible for recommending appropriate sanctions to the Principal in cases of major violations of the Charter of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
Working closely with the Students’ Representative Council (S.R.C.), at times, her role is that of an advisor and partner on projects initiated either by the university or the S.R.C. At others, her role is that of ensuring the respect of the University’s policies and approving the use of University property for major student activities and events.
