Norton/Pollack Team:
![]() Laura Harrison | G'day all! My name is Laura and I will be your Norton-Pollack (or No/Po) TC for the 2012-2013 year. I am from Kingston, Ontario and am going into my fifth and final year here at Bishop's. I am studying Health Biology and just returned from a semester abroad studying Biology in Australia, so if you want to know about exchange, or ever just want to talk about traveling I am keen :) I love playing volleyball, watching movies, music ( mostly singing but I have recently attempted to learn the guitar) and canoeing/camping. Being at Bishop's has been one of the greatest experiences, and I have met some fantastic friends at BU and have many amazing memories. I know you guys are going to love BU, just remember to get involved and bring LOTS of purple! If you want to know more about Bishop's, want to ask any questions, or just want to chat, don’t hesitate to send me an email at lharrison08@ubishops.ca or send me a message on Facebook. Have an amazing summer and can’t wait to meet you all in September!Cheers! |
![]() Luke Wilson | Hello all, my name is Luke. I am originally from the small, lovely town of Rothesay, New Brunswick. I am a little quirky, a pun aficionado, and also an RA in NoPo this coming school year. I am studying Music here at Bishops, doing an Honors in Composition coupled with a degree in Arts Administration. My main instrument is classical guitar but I play a very large variety of instruments and styles. You will undoubtedly see me in residence but here is a list of other places you may see me: practicing/recording/composing late at night in Bandeen, playing some of my music for acoustic nights at the Lion and for BUMS (Bishops University Music Society) Cabarets, snowboarding on the local ski hills in the winter, attending the free/frequent Musique Chez Nous concerts, making/eating cucumber sandwiches at Dewie’s, or exploring outdoors. After university I hope to try and make it in the music business with a band for a bit of fun. During the summer, I swim, explore, and camp frequently for I am happiest when I am outside. As for my personality, I am: accepting, eccentric, creative, excitable, sympathetic, and seldom frustrated or angry. Here are some things that I can’t get enough of: making music with others, black licorice, old N64 and Gameboy games, trying out new instruments, honesty, and creativity. My thoughts may seem a little jumbled; perhaps they are; perhaps I am. I hope to get to know people’s individual intricacies throughout the coming year and I hope you all get to know mine. Feel free to contact me via my school email: LWILSON11@ubishops.ca. |
![]() Molly O'Neil | Hey! My name is Molly O’Neil and I will be an RA in Norton/Pollack for the 2012-2013 academic year. I’m from the West Island of Montreal and live there with my parents and my younger sister and brother. I’m currently in my second year of study as a Psychology major. I love Bishop’s because of its small and close community and great spirit. Lennoxville is a great little town and the Eastern Townships are beautiful. One of my favorite experiences at Bishop’s has been making an amazing group of friends. I’m a member of the BU Undergraduate Psychology Society. I love music, anime, musical theatre, drawing, and spending time with my friends. I’m the kind of person who loves to help people so if you ever need anything don’t hesitate to knock on my door or shoot me an email at moneil11@ubishops.ca. I can’t wait to meet you all in September!! |
![]() Anders VanDuzer | Hey there, future Bishop’s students, I’m Alasdair Anderson VanDuzer, but I go by Anders just to confuse everyone. I’ll be one of the RAs for Norton/Pollock, also known as NOPO, for the upcoming 2012/2013 year, so if you’re in NOPO you’re going to be seeing me around a lot. I was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario, which for those of you who don’t know is located just outside Toronto. I’m going into my second year here as a math major at Bishop’s. Despite my highly specific academic focus, I actually have quite a wide range of interests, including reading, drawing, writing, philosophy, skiing, acting, video games, and a passion for movies. My favorite films are the Lord of the Rings trilogy – the best movies ever. Another of my greatest passions is music; I play five instruments and occasionally compose songs for them and my imaginary future band. I also speak fairly good French, after 12 years of French immersion and 5 months studying in France. I love theatre, and am involved in our school’s drama program as much as possible. I can tell you from my first year experience at Bishop’s that it’s an incredible place and you should look forward to an amazing and memorable time here. If you should ever have any questions don’t hesitate to email me at avanduzer11@ubishops.ca. I’m really excited to meet you all here next year, and will always be around to help in any way I can. |
![]() Amanda Beker | Hi, my name is Amanda Beker and I’m really excited to be part of the Norton/Pollack RA team for the 2012-2013 school year. I live in the West Island in Montreal, I have a cat and a fish who thankfully don’t pay any attention to each other. It’s my second year at Bishop’s studying elementary education and I can truly say I’ve had an amazing experience so far. I like to figure skate, watch movies, read and participate on the BU Cheerleading team. I love broadway musicals, Harry Potter and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I’m really excited to meet all of you and if you have any questions or concerns feel free to e-mail me at abeker11@ubishops.ca. |
Denise St-Pierre |
Greetings future residents! I’m Denise and I’ll the Senior RA for Norton/Pollack this year! This is my third year on the Residence Life team, but my first as an SRA. I worked in NoPo my first year, and last year I was in Newside. I must say, though, I’m psyched to be back in my old stomping grounds! I’m going into my (*gasp!*) final year as an Honours English Major in the Film, Cultural and Media Studies Concentration, with a Minor is Creative Writing and Journalism. I divide my time between the beautiful Eastern Townships and an idyllic, suburban incarnation of dullness called Orleans, Ontario. I am an avid lover of graphic novels, manga and anime, Shakespeare, films, musicals, select television shows (particularly The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Futurama, and True Blood), writing, reading, singing (if you hear the not-so-faint strains of musical theatre tunes echoing through the hallways, you’ll find me!), procrastinating, sleeping in, and eating. I’ve recently acquired a penchant for travel, and count Vienna, New York City, Oxford, London, and Edinburgh among my favourite locations. Around campus, I'm involved with the BU Pride Alliance, the Gender Equity Center, the English Literature Club (and the department in general!), and am the incoming editor for The Mitre, the annual Bishop's literary magazine. I’m ecstatic about being your guide on what will be, without a doubt, one of the most interesting years of your life! There are so many fantastic resources on campus that will give you the best possible university experience, and I’m more than happy to help you navigate them. Whether you need someone to sit and listen attentively to your problems, an opponent for a heated debate with regarding the tangibility of Hamlet’s madness or if you want to discuss whether James Newton Howard is the new Hans Zimmer, seek out a short girl with wild curly hair and glasses doing a spot-on impression of Kevin Malone from "The Office". That’s me, by the way. If ever you need to contact me, don’t hesitate to send me an email at dstpierre09@ubishops.ca or casually stalk my Facebook profile. Can’t wait to meet you all in September…cheers! |
